4. Legal basis for processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases for processing your personal data:

  • Contract: We process your data where it is necessary to perform a contract with you, such as when you make a booking and we need your details to provide our services.
  • Legitimate interests: We process your data where we have a legitimate business interest in doing so, such as improving our website, running our advertising, and sending you marketing communications about our services. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your data, such as for certain marketing communications, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation: We may process your data where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share your data with the following types of organisations where necessary:

  • Stripe, our payment processor, for the purpose of processing your payments securely.
  • Google, through Google Analytics, for the purpose of understanding how visitors use our website.
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel, for the purpose of running targeted advertising and measuring ad performance.
  • Any other service providers who assist us in operating our business, such as email marketing platforms. These providers are only permitted to use your data for the purposes we specify.
  • Law enforcement or regulatory bodies if we are required to do so by law.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. As a general guide:

  • Booking records and associated personal data are kept for up to 3 years after your most recent booking.
  • Waiver forms are kept for up to 3 years after the session they relate to.
  • Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
  • Website analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics and Meta Pixel default retention settings.

After these periods, your data is securely deleted or anonymised.

7. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to improve your experience and to help us understand how the site is being used. Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website.

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: These are necessary for the website to function properly, such as maintaining your session when you make a booking.
  • Analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use our website. This data is anonymised and used to help us improve the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Advertising cookies: The Meta Pixel places a cookie on your device to track your visit to our website. This allows us to show you relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram, and to measure the effectiveness of those ads. You can manage your ad preferences through your Facebook settings.

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Please be aware that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our website.

8. Your rights

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). You can find more information at ico.org.uk.

9. Children’s data

Laser Games Kent provides services to children aged 8 and over. Where a booking is made for a group that includes children, the personal data provided to us (such as the booking holder’s name, email, and phone number) is typically that of the parent or guardian, not the child. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through our website.

Photographs taken during sessions may include children. Consent for this is covered in the waiver signed by the parent or guardian before the session begins. If a parent or guardian does not wish their child to be photographed, they should inform a marshal before gameplay starts.
